Dan Shetler looks forward to another night of All-Star racing after getting his first win of 2017 on Friday at Lernerville Speedway and a top 5 with the All-Star Circuit of Champions at Bedford Speedway on Sunday.

Shetler started his Friday night at Lernerville Speedway off by winning his heat race and also had the fastest lap time during the heat races. He lined up in the 6th spot for the 25 lap feature and ran a very consistent race. From lap 8 on, Shetler had an intense battle with leader, Jason Shultz. A late race caution gave Shetler a moment to make the move of the race and take the lead with 3 laps to go. He led the final 3 laps and captured his first win of the 2017 season.

“It feels good to get a win early in the season and get the monkey off of our back,” said Shetler. “We had a fast car and were so close quite a few times last year but came up short finishing 2nd three times and having part failures twice when we were leading. I want to thank my crew for always sticking with me, working hard, and always keeping a positive attitude: Josh and Dylan Kreasko, Richard Crowley, Todd Esposita, Dale Glessner, Ken Stoltz, and Dennis Knisely.”

Shetler spent his Sunday evening at Bedford Speedway racing with the All-Star Circuit of Champion Sprint Cars. 36 cars were present for the big show. The DSR #7K carried their momentum from Friday’s win and started the evening off by being the fastest car during hot laps with a time or 17.958. He also qualified 7th overall and 4th fastest in his group, placing him on the pole position for his heat race.  Shetler won his heat race over Tim Shaffer and many other popular drivers, which put him straight into one of two dashes.

He lined up second in the dash and finished 2nd, after Dale Blaney.  This lined Shetler up in the 4th position for the 30 lap feature. Shetler held his ground and finished in the 5th position behind Trey Starks, Dale Blaney, Lucas Wolfe, and Tim Shaffer.

“The track changed a little more than I expected,” said Shetler.  “I was a little too tight early and lost a few positions until an open red on lap 6, which allowed us to make some adjustments.  My crew helped coach me on changing my line on the track, which helped me tremendously. Bedford is a unique track and we've never been really good there. It felt great to have a comfortable car and be fast all night against some great competition from Central PA and the All Stars.”

This coming weekend, Shetler plans to visit his hometrack, Lernerville Speedway, again for the All-Star Circuit of Champions race, weather permitting. He looks to carry this momentum from last weekend and keep having consistent runs all season.
